My First Encounter with a Demon in Another Person

All kinds of thoughts rushed through my mind: “What should I do? How did this get started? What if we can’t get her out of this — then what? Will we have to call an ambulance?” I was frightened. You can read about it and hear about it. You can even experience deliverance yourself, but when you are faced with a demon in someone else, it’s not the same.

Hesitantly, I began to say, “You come out of her, demon. You can’t have her.”

A response came. A deep masculine voice came out of this petite young woman, “You can’t have her. She’s mine.”

That was it! We engaged in battle with the demon or demons! Although none of us in the group had ever done this before, we began to bind, rebuke and demand the demons to leave. All we had to go on, was what we had seen and heard. The young woman began to writhe more violently, kicking down chairs, groaning and screaming. Our praying and yelling put pressure on the spirits that were in her. We were becoming bolder and (not knowing any better at the time) louder.

After a while, I grew even more bold and said to the demon, “How did you get in there, demon?”
It responded: “I came in through her mother, and you can’t have her. She’s mine.”

“You’re a liar, Satan,” I said, “She’s not yours. She belongs to the Lord Jesus. He bought her with the price of His blood. Come out, now!” The demons responded with more groanings and screaming.

Eventually, we discerned the demon to be a spirit of witchcraft, and upon exposing its true nature and calling it by name, it came out with a loud, chilling scream. We’ve since learned that all spirits of witchcraft come out this way.

Our precious little sister’s body finally relaxed into a heap on the floor. She began to quiver and weep with relief and joy. Her countenance and composure were noticeably different. We all began to praise God and give thanks. We had met the enemy and were victorious! It was wonderful! From that night on, my understanding of how God wanted me to minister and help His people became much clearer.
